Popular and long-running Isle of Wight event, The Garlic Festival, made its welcome return at the weekend – with thousands swarming to Newchurch for the two-day festival.
Running between August 17 and 18 at the Fighting Cocks Crossroad, organisers had promised ‘garlicky summer fun for the whole family’ and delivered exactly that.
Among the attractions was children’s TV pup, Bluey, who travelled around the site throughout, and Titan the Robot, who entertained children and adults alike.
Michelin Guide mentioned chef, Sean Jeffers, cooked live in the theatre kitchen at midday on both days, and among those to perform on the live music stage was The Missing, Emellia, Hanging Baskets, The Hornets, The Ohmz, Texus, X Directory, Mr Mojo, Foo Fighterz and Pink Lemonade.
At the other end of the site, visitors could tuck into some corn on the cob and watch the MBE BMX Team perform stunts with their troupe of world champions and Guinness World Record holders.
There were also dog shows in the arena, garlic bread making, free arts and crafts, and a magic show from the Island’s one and only David Randini.
Launched in 1983, the quirky, pungent festival has gone from strength to strength, and is now a much-anticipated fixture in the Isle of Wight calendar.
