Isle of Wight band Wight Hot Pipes will travel up country next weekend to headline one of the world's largest and longest running Steampunk festivals for a second year running.

Not only will the band headline at the Engine Shed at this year’s Asylum Steampunk Festival in Lincoln, but they will also have a spot within the heart of Lincoln Castle itself.

Wight Hot Pipes will entertain thousands of steampunk visitors as they meander through the castle grounds in their corsets and top hats.

Kieron Cooney, the band’s iconic bagpipe player, said: “Wight Hot Pipes is proud and privileged to be back at this major festival.

“Last year, I was so inspired by the experience and theme of the Lincoln festival that I had to try and bring the magic of steampunk to the Isle of Wight.

“So becomes the first Isle of Wight Steampunk Festival in September this year to be held in and around Ryde.

“A magical festival of fun and entertainment for the whole family with the inspiration and imaginative theme of Steampunk.”

The Island’s festival, which runs from September 20 – 22, offers family-friendly free daytime entertainment, including teapot racing and tea duelling, alongside spoken word, live bands and workshops.

The event will lead to two evenings of tickets live concerns, presenting major national and international performers.

The festival will feature a free stage on Eastern Gardens and various events at Ryde businesses.
