CAUGHT with three different types of drugs in his system while he was behind the wheel of an Audi TT car, an Isle of Wight man faces the possibility of being jailed when he appears in court this autumn.

Cass O'Neill, of Ashey Road, Ryde, admitted to three charges of drug driving and one of possessing cocaine, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

He was pulled over on Lushington Hill, Wootton, on December 13 last year.

At 11.05am, the police checked their system and discovered O'Neill had driven without tax or insurance. Subsequently, the vehicle was seized.

At the roadside, O'Neill was negative for drink driving, but he failed tests for cocaine and cannabis, said Liz Miller, prosecuting.

At Newport Police Station, O'Neill's blood tests revealed failures for cocaine derivative BZE (240 when the legal limit is 50), amphetamine (304 when the legal limit is 250) and cannabis derivative THC (3.2 when the legal limit is 2).

During a search of O'Neill, officers found cocaine.

O'Neill, 48, was convicted of drug driving in 2020, the bench was told.

Ms Miller said: "His offending was aggravated by the fact he had been drug driving, at a time of day when the roads were busy."

For O'Neill, Oscar Vincent said his client required a report prepared on him because he had three different drugs in his system.

Magistrates kept all sentencing options open, including imprisonment.

O'Neill was made subject to an interim driving ban and will be sentenced on October 4.
