An Isle of Wight double bass player performed to an audience of more than 10,000 last week at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, one of the UK’s biggest folk festivals.
Jon Thorne, best known as the bassist for the electronic group Lamb, took to the stage alongside Cambridge folk singers Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage.
Jon appeared on a lineup that also included keyboard player Rick Wakeman, comedian Jasper Carrott and 2024 Isle of Wight Festival stars, Baskery.
Sharing highlights of his festival trip on Instagram, Jon said: “Thanks to Hannah Sanders, Ben Savage, Josh, Matt and all at Cropredy Festival for a fantastic main stage gig today. What a great day! Music really is love.”
Taking place near Banbury in Oxfordshire, Fairport’s Cropredy Convention started in 1976 and is run by the pioneering folk rock group, Fairport Convention.
The band, who formed in 1967, have performed on the Isle of Wight multiple times, including at the 1968 Isle of Wight Festival.
