A popular Isle of Wight landmark could soon be join the likes of the Blackpool Tower, Saltburn Cliff Tramway and other seaside favourites if successful in a national vote.

A welcome dip of the feet in shallow waters while walking around a miniature version of the Island, the Ventnor Paddling Pool is a holiday must for many.
Now, it is one of 20 seaside experiences vying for the title of the Seaside Heritage Network Bucket and Spade List 2024 – and there are just a few weeks left to vote!
Last year’s vote saw ten winners crowned, including Blackpool Tower, donkey rides at Weymouth, Papa’s Fish and Chips in Cleethorpes, with the Saltburn Cliff Tramway crowned overall winner.
Ventnor Paddling Pool is fighting it out with heavy hitters such as Great Yarmouth's Hippodrome, the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare and Llandudno Great Orme Tramway and Goats in the 2024 public vote – which closes on August 31.
Speaking about Ventnor Paddling Pool, a spokesperson for The Seaside Heritage Network said: “In the middle of the bright blue pool is an island, shaped like the Isle of Wight, complete with roads and hilly contours.
“Take a look from the cliffside above, and you’ll see the island in the pool is orientated in the same way as the real thing.
“Is this the smallest island on the UK’s largest island?”
