A CHANGE in wind direction on the Isle of Wight led to a sudden shift in temperature this afternoon, according to the IW Met Service.

Local forecaster, Jamie Russell, foretold how the wind would change direction, leading to a temperature rise in the east and northeast of the Island.

Within an hour, south-easterly winds and a temperature of 23C at 11am changed to westerly winds and a temperature of 27C.

Today (Monday), the IW Met Service predicted a fine, sunny start, with clouds creeping in from the west by late morning.

The service said there could be the odd, rogue shower, but most areas would stay dry.

Later today, the service is expecting fine, dry weather, with long clear spells and occasional patchy cloud.

Tomorrow, we can expect long, sunny spells, with increasing amounts of cloud as the day goes on.
