Conservative Party leadership candidate Tom Tugendhat MP has been on the Isle of Wight, meeting party members as part of his UK tour of local associations.
Over the weekend, he was joined by fellow Tory, Joe Robertson — MP for Isle of Wight East and Isle of Wight councillor for Bembridge.
Speaking to party members in the village, Tugendhat argued the Conservative Party lost the General Election because it failed to deliver on promises, including on tax and immigration.
If chosen as the next leader, the shadow security minister said he would focus on delivery and rebuilding the party around "traditional conservative principles".
The MP for Tonbridge also spoke about his record of delivery while commanding troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as in Parliament.
Promising to "unite" the party, MP for Tonbridge, Tom Tugendhat, said: “I am delighted to be joining you here on the IW.
"These next few months are critical for the Conservative Party.
"We need to have an honest conversation about the future of our party and how we rebuild from the ground up."
