ISLE of Wight police are appealing for witnesses following a pursuit in Newport earlier today (Sunday) which saw multiple vehicles damaged and the driver flee the scene on foot.
At around 11.30am, on Fairlee Road, officers spotted a red Citroen C3 showing as having no MOT.
The driver failed to stop for police, leading to a short pursuit up to Whippingham Road, Beatrice Avenue, and back towards Fairlee Road, where the Citroen driver went on the wrong side of the road and collided with several other vehicles.
Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who saw the driver flee the scene on foot, should call 101 quoting reference 44240331936.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “Officers stood down the pursuit at this point due to the risk to the public.
“The Citroen driver continued to drive dangerously, driving the wrong way on the dual carriageway and then going down the on-slip towards Riverway, where the male driver crashed off the roundabout by Topps Tiles.
“The driver fled on foot with a female passenger over the dual carriageway and towards Hookes Way.
“No injuries have been reported.”
