Giant marquees showing prize exhibits of horticulture are among the main draws of Chale Show, and this year was no exception.

Arts, crafts, vegetables, fruit and flowers take pride of place during the two-day show, which took place today (Sunday) and yesterday.

The main arena is another big attraction, and this year there was a packed programme including quad bike stunts, horseback falconry and Island favourite, Randini the magician.

One of the stars of the show is John Hardy, who commentates in the main arena, making proceedings run smoothly. Incredibly, he has been volunteering for the show for around 50 years!

A show spokesperson said: "We are so grateful for all our volunteers, and ones like John are extra special!"

Although the village show is a tradition dating back to 1920, this year it entered a new era by releasing an app.

Among the entertainment was music on a stage, marching bands, vintage tractors, steam engines and military vehicles.

There were charity stalls, craft stalls and traders, plus plenty to eat and drink.

Chale Show donates thousands of pounds to charities each year, as well as supporting local causes, giving them a showcase at a major event, and nurturing Island horticulture.
