A new Premier convenience store is opening in an empty Isle of Wight retail space tomorrow (Friday, August 2).

The County Press has had a sneak peek inside! (see photos in the gallery above)

Opening opposite Gunville Methodist Church, the shop has received a considerable refurbishment after sitting empty for several years.

The building was previously the home of Friends of the Animals and, before the charity shop, was a SPAR convenience store before it moved further up Gunville Road and was taken over as Central.

After months of hard work, the final preparations are being made, with the last stock placed on the shelves.

Alongside all the usual convenience store goodies, from frozen food to cleaning products and tinned goods to confectioneries, the store also includes a few added surprises.

At the back of the store are beer and soft drinks caves – cool spaces, behind automatic doors – and at the front are slushy and milkshake machines, with Skwishee (fizzy, frozenated drinks) being added soon.

There have been several Premier stores popping up across the Island in recent months, with this being the third, behind the new shops on Horsebridge Hill and Shanklin Regent Street.

The Gunville store’s grand opening is 10am on Friday (August 2), with its usual opening times being 7am – 10pm daily.
