An Isle of Wight heritage group will celebrate past and present local businesses at its themed Summer Exhibition next weekend.
The theme of Bembridge Heritage’s Summer Exhibition will be the celebration of the variety of shops, hotels, cafes and restaurants that have served the village over the past 150 years.
Held at Bembridge Village Hall, the exhibition will include over 200 nostalgic items looking back at local businesses, from bakers to boatbuilders, haberdashers to hoteliers, grocers to garages, and everything in between!
The computerized database will also be available for people to access visual records on screen, with around 8,000 viewable items on all aspects of Bembridge life over the years.
A spokesperson for the exhibition said: “This promises to be a fascinating and memorable look at how our community has been served over the years by such a variety of businesses and tradesmen.
“Some of these, people may well recall from more recent times, others that had served previous generations of our community.”
The exhibition will also hold a grand raffle, with hundreds of pounds worth of prizes donated by local businesses to be won.
Event entry is free and will be held over the weekend of August 10 and 11, from 10am to 4pm.
