A well-known member of the Island community and former owner of a leading motor trader, has died at the age of 98.
Pamela Watson-Lee died on June 24, two days shy of her 99th birthday.
A respected Bembridge resident, Pam moved to the Island with her husband Rex in 1968.
Together, they purchased Wight Motors, in Ryde, and over the years expanded the business to Sandown.
Following Rex's death in 1988, Pam continued to run the properties occupied by the garages and added further estate to her portfolio.
A keen golfer, Pam played at Ryde Golf Club and Sandown and Shanklin Golf Club. She regularly represented the club in matches across Hampshire and in 1984 won the Hampshire Silver Salver.
She was also a life member of the Bembridge Sailing Club and set up keep fit classes, Scottish dancing, and many other events over the years.
A church warden at Holy Trinity Church, she was also on the Parish Parochial Council.
Pam enjoyed sea swimming and was an owner of a beach hut at Puckpool, where she swam regularly.
A keen Bridge player, Pam organised a number of events on the Island and played regularly with friends.
Her family say she was bright, intelligent, witty, formidable and fearless.
She is survived by her two sons, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
