An exhibition will showcase the new artwork of five Island-based artists.

It will be held at Monkton Arts in Ryde, from August 6 to August 16.

The exhibition, which presents the work of artists Esme Ballard, Linda Beale, Barry Ecuyer, Boris Moscoff and Davina Smith, will feature a range of techniques and materials.

Davina was previously a further education art tutor in Manchester and Harrogate.

Since moving to the Island, she teaches art in care homes. She said: “I enjoy landscape painting in oils and often make pen and ink sketches while out walking to use later in my work.”

Esme will display 12 limited edition watercolour prints of beautiful West Wight scenery.

Linda, who paints with acrylic on canvas, is showcasing artwork inspired by the geology of Compton Beach.

Boris, a leader of workshops in stained-glass, fused glass and mosaics, will exhibit a curation of paintings, prints and glasswork.

Barry’s work focuses upon light, scenery and people around Freshwater Bay.

“I hope my watercolours and acrylics will give visitors an inkling of the pleasure I had in making them,” he said.

The exhibition will take place in the Acons Gallery, Monkton Arts and is open daily from 10.30am to 4pm.

The artists’ work will be available to purchase in the Lounge Cafe.
