Children at St Helens Primary School will see their beloved mobile library upgraded, funded by Southern Vectis.

The bus operator initially donated a bus for the school's innovative library project in 2017.

The bus, filled with books, has been an invaluable learning resource for all age groups.

Now, the Southern Vectis Community Fund has gifted an additional donation, earmarked for bus enhancements.

St Helens Primary School headteacher, Carl Wake, said: "We are so grateful to Southern Vectis for all the support they gave us with our exciting library bus project - and now they are gifting us £500 to make some extra improvements.

"The bus, located a few metres from our main building, houses many of our reading books and is a great resource which the children love to use.

"However the bus is in desperate need of an upgrade with new furniture, lighting and heating and of course books all on the agenda.

"The money from the Southern Vectis Community Fund will help to rejuvenate this wonderful resource."

Open to everyone, including charities and sports teams, the fund encourages applications twice a year – during May and November.
