Police have released an update following a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle on a main Isle of Wight road earlier today (Monday, July 29).
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were called shortly after 8.15am to reports of a collision on Quarr Hill on the outskirts of Binstead.
The crash involved a motorcycle and a grey Mazda 3 and happened on the outbound lane heading towards Fishbourne.
Emergency teams arrived and filtered traffic before closing the road between Fishbourne and the Newnham Road roundabout at around 9am.
Teams from the IW Ambulance Service also attended and gave urgent treatment to one casualty at the scene.
Police have confirmed that a man in his 30s has suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
The road was closed for over three hours while emergency teams dealt with the incident, and the vehicles were recovered.
Quarr Hill has now fully reopened in both directions.
