POLICE officers responding to an incident in an Isle of Wight town were attacked by a man alleged to have been at the centre of it.

Officers were called to an address in Vectis Road, East Cowes, at 10.11pm last night (Friday, July 26).

They were responding to a report of criminal damage to a window there.

When they arrived, detailed a 40-year-old man from Newport.

During the arrest, two officers were assaulted.

The suspect remains in custody at Newport Police Station while inquiries continue.
