A residential street on the Isle of Wight will be closed for almost a month to allow for utility and maintenance work.

Fitzroy Street in Sandown will be closed at 8am on Monday, July 29, by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).

The one-way section of Fitzroy Street, from the Station Avenue crossroads to Grafton Lane, just past the junction to Leed Street, will be closed.

The road is scheduled to remain closed until Tuesday, August 27, at 4pm.

The closure is necessary to allow workers to overlay 72m of low-voltage cable along the street.

SSEN confirmed that emergency access will be maintained when possible.
