TWO police officer were assaulted and left covered in urine and excrement following a struggle in a police station cell.
George Swain, of Mary Rose Avenue, Wootton Bridge, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates via video link on Tuesday, July 23.
The 25-year-old admitted two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, in Newport, on March 27.
Prosecutor, Liz Miller, said Swain assaulted a detention officer and a custody sergeant at Newport Police Station.
She said the detention officer entered Swain’s cell to give him medication, and Swain used his body weight to barge past him.
Ms Miller said the alarm was activated, and during a struggle while he was being restrained on the floor, Swain swung his hand back and struck a custody sergeant in the head.
During the struggle, the court heard the two officers ended up covered in urine and excrement.
Michael McGoldrick, defending, said the officers only came to be covered in urine and excrement because of the struggle and the court heard it was not intended.
Swain saw his case adjourned to August 9 and was granted unconditional bail until that date.
