Northwood Cemetery has earnt a seventh successive Green Flag Award - a coveted international quality mark for outdoor spaces.
Celebrating their accomplishment, The Friends of Northwood Cemetery group, who manage the green haven, are thrilled with the recognition.
A spokesperson for the group said: "This is the seventh year in succession that we have been successful in achieving Green Flag status — the result of the tremendous hard work and dedication of a small team of volunteers, supported by the Isle of Wight Council; an achievement of which we are all immensely proud."
The Green Flag Award scheme, led by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, sets the benchmark standard for green space management globally.
It rewards well-run outdoor parks commended for their exceptional upkeep, particularly those aiding inhabitant's wellbeing.
Paul Todd, Green Flag’s scheme manager, said: "I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Northwood Cemetery on achieving a Green Flag Award.
"Everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.
"It is important that our free to use spaces are maintained to the Green Flag Award standard, making them accessible for all members of the community while ensuring the environment is protected."
