AN ISLE of Wight man who attacked two members of door staff at a popular Isle of Wight pub must pay compensation to each of them.
Cameron Younie, of Westfield Park, Ryde, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, July 19.
At a previous hearing, the 19-year-old admitted two counts of assault by beating, in Newport, on February 4.
Prosecutor, Liz Miller, said Younie assaulted two members of door staff at the Hog’s Head public house, on Newport High Street.
She said the incident was captured on CCTV and he assaulted a male and a female, causing bruising, swelling and cuts.
The court heard he kicked one male and threw a punch at another, which missed and hit a female.
Michael McGoldrick, defending, said Younie had taken steps to stop drinking since the incident.
Invited to speak, Younie told magistrates he felt terrible about his actions, and it should not have happened.
Magistrates told Younie: “Punching a female is inexcusable. Punching anyone is inexcusable. Punching a female is even worse.”
Younie was made subject of a 12-month community order, to include 15 rehabilitation days and 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was ordered to pay costs of £85, a £114 surcharge, and £200 compensation – £100 to each victim.
