A teenager has been arrested following an alleged assault in an Isle of Wight village, which led to police taping off a beach.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to Church Road, Binstead at 12.20pm yesterday (Sunday, July 21).

A man in his 40s suffered a cut to his head, police said.

A 16-year-old boy from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and making threats to kill.

He has been released on bail while investigation continues.

The incident led to Players Beach being taped off by police.

A police spokesperson said: "This was as part of the investigation, while a review of any forensic investigation opportunities was made."

The beach is no longer taped off as of this morning.
