AN ISLE of Wight drug driver caught by police after taking an “odd manoeuvre” has been banned from the road.

Simon Peach, of Oaklyn Gardens, Shanklin, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, July 19.

The 41-year-old admitted drug driving in Sandown, on January 31.

Prosecutor, Liz Miller, said PC Blais was on patrol and spotted a silver Toyota in Brading.

She said the vehicle passed by the officer, was followed, and seen to take “an odd manoeuvre”.

Ms Miller told the bench the car was stopped in Sandown, on Avenue Road, and its driver, Peach, admitted recently smoking cannabis.

Police found a small quantity of the illicit substance in his car, and Peach registered a reading of 2.6 for cannabis when the specified limit is 2.

Jim Osborne, defending, said Peach regretted his behaviour.

He said he smoked cannabis some days before and didn’t think it would still be in his system.

Peach was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
