MAGISTRATES have ordered the arrest of an Isle of Wight man accused of being armed with a knife and dumb-bell in public.

Sean Buckland, of High Street, Ryde, was due to face charges of possessing an offensive weapon and possessing a knife in a public place, on January 5, as well as charges of shoplifting a £12 box of Stella Artois beer, on January 1 last year and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards a woman, in Lake, on May 31 last year.

He failed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 16.

All matters had been adjourned at a previous hearing on May 21.

Magistrates issued a warrant without bail to secure the arrest of the 30-year-old, to face the allegations against him.
