CHOCOHOLICS take note — a new shop dedicated to and celebrating all things chocolate has been opened in an Isle of Wight town, with the blessing of its mayor, no less. 

Sandown has welcomed the arrival of a new and innovative enterprise, Fran Pauwels' Everything Chocolate — Fran's Belgian Creations, which opened to a virtual fanfare in the High Street, yesterday (Tuesday, July 17).

Sandown mayor, Cllr Alex Lightfoot, joined with members of the Sandown community, at the official opening of Fran's shop.

"I first came to Sandown 30 years ago — and very much want to be a part of the town's regeneration," said Fran.

"We have worked tirelessly for six weeks, with the help of friends and family, to ensure we can be open for the summer season.

"I'd like to thank all those who have given their time and upcycled the decorations in the shop."

Opening daily from 8am to 5pm, but closed on Sundays, the shop offers a range of unique chocolate creations, from waffles and cakes, to individually crafted sweets and drinks.

There is also the promise of creative choc-related workshops in the autumn.

Cllr Lightfoot added: "Fran's 'Belgian Creations' is a welcome addition to the High Street. I wish her success and I am sure she will have the support of the town."
