The Isle of Wight’s floating bridge remains out of service this afternoon due to ferry disruptions delaying the arrival of service parts, the council has revealed.

It has been five days since an electrical issue put paid to the service, which runs between Cowes and East Cowes.

It was suspended at around 5.30pm on Thursday, July 11, and on Friday, the Isle of Wight Council said it was hopeful it would return to service ‘within 24 hours’.

Now, the local authority says the arrival of necessary service parts was expected yesterday, but they did not arrive as scheduled from the supplier due to ferry disruptions.

An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said: “The floating bridge remains out of service at this time.

“We appreciate your patience as we work towards resolving this issue.

“We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

“Thank you for your understanding.”
