Emergency services are in attendance at a crash in Whippingham this afternoon.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are both at the scene on the main Whippingham road after being called just after 4pm.

Buses are unable to serve East Cowes, Southern Vectis has warned, on the Route 4 and Route 5.

More to follow.

A spokesperson from the fire service said they are working to release one casualty from one of the vehicles, and there are two other casualties already out.

Crews are in attendance from Newport, Ryde and Shanklin fire stations.

Traffic heading out of East Cowes is backed up all the way to Osborne House.

Update from PC Champney: "Whippingham Road is closed from Racecourse Roundabout and Alverstone Road following a RTI.

"Traffic is being diverted via Brocks Copse Road. Traffic is building and I appreciate the diversion is not the easiest to access.

"Please bear with us whilst emergency services are dealing and looking after everyone.

"I will update when the roads are open again."
