A power cut, affecting almost 230 homes on an Isle of Wight seafront this afternoon (Sunday, July 14), should be fixed ahead of kick-off at the EURO 2024 final.

The Cowes outage stretches from Egypt Point to Northwood House and the Royal Yacht Squadron.

It was reported to Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) shortly before 2pm.

Engineers arrived on the scene at around 2.15pm, and are aiming to restore power by 7pm, just one hour before the England vs Spain final kicks off.

The cause of the power cut is due to a fault in the SSEN underground network - the most common type of fault the energy company experiences.

In total, 20 postcodes in the PO31 area have been affected.

UPDATE: The outage has thankfully been fixed, well ahead of the estimate.
