A father, allegedly accompanied by his four-month-old son, denies assaulting a security guard while under the influence of alcohol at an Isle of Wight ferry terminal.

Steven Yeo, of Park Road, attended the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 9, and pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

It is alleged that the 27-year-old assaulted a security guard while disembarking the Red Jet at the ferry terminal in Cowes on December 16 last year.

He is also charged with being drunk while in charge of a child under the age of seven years, namely his four-month-old son.

Magistrates accepted jurisdiction of the case, but Mr Yeo opted to have his case heard by a crown court judge.

Mr Yeo was granted unconditional bail and will appear before the IW Crown Court on August 12 for a pre-trial hearing.
