A popular Isle of Wight Halloween event has been cancelled for 2024, with organisers saying, “we can’t uphold our horrifically high standards.”

Terror Island, which has taken place at Blackgang Chine for the past five years, has confirmed it will not return again this year.

The spooktacular event, which offers a full Halloween experience, has previously included rides, live music, creepy roaming characters, street entertainment, gory games and an American-style funfair.

Organisers have announced that this year's event would not meet the team's high standards, and the decision was made to cancel the October-November event.

Visitors have been taking to social media to share their disappointment at the news.

The Terror Island Team posted on Facebook: “Those of you twisted enough to have been repeat victims will know that every year we have brought you more scares, more gore, and more screams.

"But, this year, we can't uphold our horrifically high standards, and we're not in the business of tame experiences. Go hard or go home.

“So, our creatures are doing just that and crawling back to worlds they came from, and we are closing our maze doors.

“We know this will disappoint so many of you, as it has us.

“A huge thank you to all the victims whose nerves we wrecked and blood we curdled; we hope Terror Island will live on in your nightmares, and we'll scare you there.”

It is currently unknown whether Terror Island will return for 2025.
