Isle of Wight ferry firm Red Funnel is running a revised timetable on its car ferry service, on the day thousands of festivalgoers head home.

Crossings from East Cowes are expected to leave one hour later than the original booked sailing time.

The ferry firm said the changes are necessary because its freight service, Red Kestrel, is out of action.

"We are expecting vehicle ferry departures from East Cowes to be extremely busy ", a spokesperson for the company said.

Thousands of revellers are returning home today after Isle of Wight Festival 2024 drew to a close.

Yesterday saw Green Day and Simple Minds headline the main stage.

Around 55,000 people turned out for the four-day event.
