After her triumphant set in the Isle of Wight Festival 2024’s Big Top on Saturday afternoon, electro-pop drummer, Georgia, has spoken to the County Press about her love of Pet Shop Boys and her friendship with Wet Leg.
Georgia, who gained a Mercury Prize nomination for her second album, Seeking Thrills, shared her enjoyment of the Big Top gig.
“I thought it was amazing," she said.
“I’ve been hoping to come to the Isle of Wight, so it’s brilliant.”
Inspired by dance and house music, Georgia performs solo, producing every sound from her drum kit and synth-pads herself.
One major inspiration were Pet Shop Boys, who were on stage hours later.
“Pet Shop Boys covered a classic called, It’s Alright by Sterling Void.
“It’s one of the greatest house records of all time."
Singing a line, Georgia said it was this that inspired her own song, Too Much Too Little.
The 34-year-old was born on Baker Street in London, making her a real-life West End Girl and she is a big fan of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe.
“Pet Shop Boys are everything to me.
“I think [West End Girls] is one of the greatest pop songs to ever be made.
“There’s nothing that can beat it. Maybe a Michael Jackson song?”

A prior gig supporting Anne Marie, herself a recurring Isle of Wight Festival favourite, meant Georgia couldn’t stay to catch Pet Shop Boys’ set.
Georgia has previously been to the Island to see her really good friends, Wet Leg, who share record label, Domino Records, visiting with her A&R talent scout when Rhian, Hester and the band were signed.
Her dad, meanwhile, Neil Barnes from ground-breaking dance act, Leftfield, has been another huge inspiration.
Whilst the influential duo are yet to perform at Seaclose Park, Leftfield did headline a different Isle of Wight gig in 2016.

“I don’t think Dad’s ever played the Isle of Wight Festival," she said.
“I should ask him.”
The high-energy, About Work The Dancefloor, was Georgia's sign-off song in the Isle of Wight Festival's Big Top, on Saturday and it left her fans hoping she will soon return to Seaclose Park.
Her most recent album, It's Euphoric, came out last year.
