A FISH and chip shop on the Isle of Wight has reopened after a fire in a flat above the premises led to an evacuation of nearby businesses.
Wights in High Street, Ryde, was forced to shut yesterday (Thursday), as four crews of firefighters dealt with the incident, following a report of an 'explosion'
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service sent out two crews from Ryde and Newport, together with an aerial ladder platform to access the property.
The High Street was closed for about three hours.
