WITH road closures in place ahead of the Isle of Wight Festival, traffic to and from Newport is gridlocked.
Traffic is snarled along all of Newport's main routes — Fairlee Road, Staplers Road, Medina Way, the Carisbrooke Road and Newport town centre — this afternoon (Wednesday), as people travel to the the town in readiness for the start of the four-day festival, held at Seaclose Park.
The main route for festival traffic from Red Funnel's car ferry terminal in East Cowes, will run up York Avenue and Whippingham Road, where it then turns onto East Cowes Road and into the festival car park.
