Mrs H, Ryde:

As a Park Road resident, it was nice to see that one of the many who drive the wrong way up Park Road has purely by luck been caught (CP court report 07-06-24).

We regularly have vehicles of all shapes and sizes drive up the wrong way.

In the past we have had the odd bus, cars, vans and motorbikes...

A couple of weeks ago I saw a blue 05 Ford with a P on its boot come up through the one-way then turn left and go down Daniel Street, another one-way (the wrong way) not once but twice in the same day.

Last week a truck came up through the one-way, nearly causing an accident with a delivery driver.

If you manage to say anything to them without being mowed down you get verbal abuse.

Island Roads and the police have been informed more than once.

As it costs money and no one has been killed, nothing happens. Why does it always come down to that? Why can't people be proactive rather than reactive?

Park Road has additional problems. We get people speeding down. The buses make the houses vibrate when they pass.

Both Daniel Street and Park Road are used as a rat run for people to avoid the Monkton Street and St John's Station traffic lights.

Park Road used to be a side road not anymore. People use it as a main road. It makes it hard for the residents to get on and off their drives safely.
