9 Island acts to catch at the Isle of Wight Festival 2024

We are setting out our long weekend schedules, and we thought we might share our plans with you.

Whilst Green Day, Pretenders and Suede are among those headlining the Main Stage and Big Top, we have compiled a list of nine Isle of Wight acts you must not miss.

From hip-hop to punk, here are some of our recommendations... 

Baron Fortitude

Perhaps you recognise Baron Fortitude, the Victorian rapper, from Channel 5’s Jewel of the South? In a slightly unconventional form of hip-hop, the Baron’s songs include The Correct Way to Make a Cup of Tea and What the Dickens? Baron Fortitude’s music is the perfect blend of both history and rapping, what’s not to love?

Emellia

Born Ina Barn

Part of a run of 2024 reunion shows, Born Ina Barn will take to the stage in the Kashmir Cafe and showcase their blend of hip-hop, reggae and ska. No strangers to performing at the Isle of Wight Festival, Born Ina Barn are sure to put on an extra special show as the group are promising almost the full original line-up - the same one that supported Guns Don’t Kill People, Rappers Do hitmakers, Goldie Lookin’ Chain, at Strings Bar and Venue in April.

Coach Party

From supporting Queens of the Stone Age to performing at Glastonbury, Coach Party have just completed a headline European tour and you will have a chance to catch them yourself when they play the River Stage on Festival Friday. Additionally, the indie-rock up-and-comers, featuring Guy, Jess, Joe and Steph - released their debut album KILLJOY last year to rave reviews.

Emillia

Describing her music as “edgy dark-pop,” Emellia’s songs have had thousands of streams online and showcase her visionary style of creating music. With experience of performing live stretching from touring in Amsterdam to playing in Florida’s Fort Lauderdale, Emellia’s synth-driven tracks are the perfect fit for a Sunday party in the Electrolove.

Marnie Marie

Marnie is this year’s Wight Noize competition winner and will be opening up the Main Stage on the final day of the Isle of Wight Festival, joining a schedule that features 1980s hitmakers Simple Minds and American rock legends, Green Day. With a setlist of powerful ballads, all R&B inspired, Marnie is a perfect relaxing start to Sunday, June 23rd.

Peachy Keen

Inspired by artists from Wolf Alice to John Mayer, Peachy Keen released their debut single, Blue, earlier this year and will bring their easy-listening pop to Seaclose Park this festival season. The band features Will Johnston, Fionnuala O’Riain, Lily Burr, Joe Scovell and Boo Baker, the latter of whom also plays with Ugly Ozo (see later in this list) and are sure to entertain crowds on the final day of the Isle of Wight Festival.

The Pill

Since releasing their raucous debut single, Bale of Hay, The Pill have performed at venues from London to Brighton, with the trio supporting Spanish rock band, Hinds, in the latter city. Lily, Lottie and Rufus have received praise from BBC Radio 6 Music presenter, Steve Lamacq, and Radio X presenter John Kennedy, who called them “fantastic,” proving how the punk band are definitely one to catch on the River Stage before they get any bigger.

Ugly Ozo

Fronted by Jess Baker, the multi-talented bass player/guitarist for Lauran Hibberd, Ugly Ozo have made countless appearances at Strings Bar and Venue, even supporting post-punk band Shelf Lives alongside fellow list members, The Pill. With dreamy, bass driven instrumentals and guitar pedals galore, Ugly Ozo will put on a show like you have never seen before.

5 Degrees North

Rock icons in the making, 5 Degrees North just missed out on the Wight Noize competition this year but have been impressing music fans at venues across the Island for over two years, performing at Strings, Warrior Festival and Rhythmtree Festival, among other venues. Only releasing their debut single in January and performing at the Platform One charity concert just last month, the band are definitely one to watch so make sure you catch them on the Platform One Stage over the Isle of Wight Festival weekend.
