A MAIN Isle of Wight road remains closed following a major crash earlier today (Saturday).
UPDATE: One person has died and another was seriously injured following the major crash.
The Downs Road at Brading has been closed by police following a road traffic incident and it is understood it may remain closed for some time.
A casualty was flown to a mainland hospital following a serious crash at around 11.20am.
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance airlifted them from the scene.

Police described it as a serious collision.
It is understood two vehicles were involved.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service sent multiple vehicles to the scene.
