An Isle of Wight pub has been named the Campaign for Real Ales (CAMRA) pub of the year.

Newport Ale House is celebrating success, after securing the most votes in the competition run by an organisation that promotes real ale.

Hot on its heels, in second and third place, respectively, were Castle Inn, Sandown and Traveller's Joy, Northwood.

Meanwhile, the Goddards-brewed Fuggle-Dee-Dum, won the Best Beer prize.

The brand also took third place, for its Puncheon Porter, while Island Brewery's Earls R.D.A was second.

CAMRA's annual awards ceremony aims to recognise the best of the Island's pubs and brews, among a crowded field.

The popularity poll reflects the opinion of all members of the local branch of CAMRA who choose to vote.

Winners and runners-up get a framed certificate.
