Boss of Wightlink, Keith Greenfield, is retiring after nine years at the helm of the Isle of Wight ferry firm, it has been announced.

Katy Taylor, the current chief customer officer of Southern Water, is to take over as Wightlink's CEO from Monday, August 19.

Previously, she was chief customer and strategy officer at international bus and train operator Go-Ahead Group, which includes Isle of Wight bus company Southern Vectis.

Katy said: “Having visited the Isle of Wight in my previous roles over the past 12 years, I am looking forward to spending more time on the Island, both for business and pleasure.

“I am delighted to be joining the Solent’s leading ferry operator as it transforms its business to meet future challenges, including decarbonising its ships and shore facilities to meet Net Zero Targets and building greater links with the local communities.”

CEO Keith Greenfield said: “Over the last nine years, we have invested in our fleet and ports and brought in England’s first hybrid energy ferry Victoria of Wight.

"Most importantly, I was pleased that our customers recognised the progress we have made by voting Wightlink the Best UK Ferry Operator in 2023 at the British Travel Awards.

“It has been a privilege to lead the Wightlink team and I have enjoyed every minute.

"The company is in good shape for the future, and it is the right time for me to hand over to Katy to achieve even more in the years to come.”
