A drug driver had no idea how he had cocaine in his system, other than guessing the drug was laced in a cake he ate at a party, a court heard.
The fate of delivery driver Paul Dixon, caught drug driving in his Ford Transit van, with cocaine and cannabis in his system, will be determined by Isle of Wight magistrates.
Dixon, of Cockleton Lane, Gurnard, admitted two charges of drug driving, on December 18, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.
At 4.35pm, a police speed check in Gurnard recorded Dixon driving his van at 40mph through a 30mph zone.
Officers could smell cannabis and gave him a roadside drugs test, which proved positive for cocaine and cannabis, said Lauren Stone, prosecuting.
Following a subsequent blood test, Dixon was found over the limit for cocaine derivative BZE and cannabis derivative, THC.
Dixon, with no previous convictions, will lose his job as a delivery driver, said his solicitor, Nicholas Muir.
Mr Muir said his client had smoked cannabis at a party two days prior, unaware of how long the drug remained in the system for.
Mr Muir also argued Dixon had no idea how he had cocaine in his system, suggesting he may have eaten some cake laced with cocaine, at the party.
Dixon was bailed to reappear for sentencing on July 5.
