Passengers had to evacuate a Southern Vectis bus after a strimmer hit the window, causing it to shatter.

The incident happened when the Number 2 bus was travelling from Ryde to Newport yesterday (Monday) lunchtime, in Godshill.

Passengers were told to get off the bus and wait for the Number 3, which was already on its way towards Newport.

A Southern Vectis spokesperson said: "There was some damage when a small object was flicked up by someone strimming.

"There were no injuries and customers were transferred onto the next service."
