Isle of Wight ferry firm Red Funnel has announced that previously cancelled sailings have been reinstated after work to repair its vehicle ferry was completed.
Red Funnel’s East Cowes to Southampton ferry service experienced significant disruption and cancellations yesterday (Monday) and this morning (Tuesday).
The disruption came following an issue with the Red Eagle vehicle ferry’s aft Voith unit, which required repairs.
Red Funnel previously announced a string of cancellations again today but has now reinstated several sailings following the completion of the work.
Restored vehicle ferry sailings:
- Departing East Cowes to Southampton: 3.30pm, 6.30pm and 9.45pm.
- Departing Southampton to East Cowes: 5pm and 8.15pm.
A spokesperson for the ferry firm said: “Thanks to the hard work of our specialist engineering team, we are pleased to announce that Red Eagle is back in service.
“We would like to thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding as we facilitated the emergency repairs to Eagle’s aft Voith unit and completed the necessary sea trials.
“Any customers who were originally booked on these sailing times, who would still prefer to travel at this time, can check in 45 minutes before departure or keep to their newly assigned crossing time.
“For any assistance, please contact 02380019192.”
