An Isle of Wight student is looking forward to the live Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals after his dance group received the golden buzzer on Saturday night’s episode (May 18).

Ukrainian boy, Kostiantyn Rozvodovskyi, nicknamed Kostia, attends Christ the King College and is a proud member of the dance company Phoenix Boys.

The group, which includes members from across the UK, were jumping for joy after dance legend Bruno Tonioli hit the golden buzzer so hard that he smashed it!

After the audience gave them a standing ovation, a teary Bruno said how the group reminded him of being a young male dancer. 

Members of the group spoke of how it felt like everything was frozen in time, and getting the gold buzzer was the most surreal experience and the happiest moment of their lives.

The group enjoyed a standing ovation from the whole auditorium at the London Palladium.

A student at the Carisbrooke-based En-Core Dance and Pilates, Kostia says he cannot wait to go live in front of the nation in a few weeks with his friends.

Sally Mitchell, from En-Core Dance and Pilates, said: “The remarkable thing about Kostia is that until he came to the Island, he had never had a modern/jazz/ballet class before. He used to do Ukrainian National dance (which is very different).

“He is very new to these styles of dance but is naturally talented and he always works super hard in lessons.”

“The Phoenix Boys has been a great programme for him to join as it’s really inspiring for him to learn from and dance alongside a strong group of male dancers.”

Phoenix Boys is a nationwide dance associate programme that provides training for budding male dancers, enabling them to thrive, whether it is for a hobby or a career on stage or screen.
