AN ISLE of Wight man who assaulted four police officers and described himself as a “waste of oxygen” and a “taxpayers’ drain” was deemed unfit to be sentenced.
Todd Creighton, of Furrlongs, Newport, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, May 17.
At a previous hearing in March, the 40-year-old admitted four counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker, in Newport, on September 4 of last year.
On Friday, Creighton was deemed unfit to be sentenced.
When magistrates queried the reason for his “unwellness”, Rachel Wigley, defending, said she believed it might be intoxication.
Addressing the bench himself, Creighton said he was a schizophrenic on a “massive dose” of Diazepam, and by the afternoon his head was spinning.
He described himself as being “a waste of oxygen” and a “taxpayers’ drain” in the past, but said he “did not want to be that anymore”.
Creighton saw his case adjourned to June 4 at the same venue.
He was granted unconditional bail until that date.
