Two people were hurt, say police investigating a report of an incident on St James' Street in Newport on Friday, May 17.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was called out just before midnight.
A man aged in his 20s and a woman aged in her 40s escaped with what the force called minor injuries.
No arrests have been made, but enquiries into what happened are ongoing, said police.
