A Ryde man will be sentenced later this year, after admitting using a stolen rubber mallet to batter the door of an Isle of Wight addiction rehabilitation centre.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was alerted to reports of an incident in Newport, at around 6.30pm, on Monday, May 13.
At the scene, officers saw a man using a rubber mallet to cause damage to the door of the Inclusion IOW premises on Carisbrooke Road, opposite the junction at Trafalgar Road.
Craig Sheriff, of Melville Street in Ryde, was arrested and later charged on suspicion of theft (of a rubber mallet), possession of an offensive weapon in public and criminal damage.
The 38-year-old was remanded in custody, to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates' Court this morning (May 15), said police.
At the hearing, Sheriff admitted the offences and was granted conditional bail, ahead of his sentencing at the IW Magistrates Court on July 5.
