A TOWN councillor and former radio DJ from the Isle of Wight has been named as a contestant on popular TV show The Great British Sewing Bee.
Islander, Georgie Carter, a once well known voice on Isle of Wight Radio, is one of the contestants in the new series — the tenth — which has become a hit on BBC 1.
Georgie is also a member of Ryde Town Council, representing the ward of Ryde Monktonmead.
She said: "I have been in love with the 'Sewing Bee' since it started — and have probably watched each series several times on repeat — but never dreamt I’d actually get to be on the show!
"It still feels very surreal, but I do feel incredibly honoured to be part of 'The Hive' and to have met such awesome people on this crazy ride."
The Great British Sewing Bee is a show in which home sewers take on a series of challenges, vying for the title of Britain’s Best Amateur Sewer.
Challenges for the contestants centre around what’s happening in the ever-changing world of clothing today.
Georgie adds: "To my fellow 'bees', here we go. The adventure continues. You are such an awesome group of humans, who I am lucky to now call friends."
The first episode of the tenth series starts on Tuesday May 21, at 9pm on BBC 1.
