St Helens Primary School pupils and staff received the prestigious Gold Artsmark Award from the Arts Council England.

To receive the accolade, schools must demonstrate excellence in arts and cultural education across the entire curriculum.

The award is an acknowledgement of St Helens' commitment to a broad and ambitious curriculum, brought to life for children and young people through an overall plan delivered throughout the whole school.

The Artsmark assessor said: "The school’s wellbeing days and projects with The New Carnival Company and Independent Arts demonstrate this approach.

"Additionally, St Helens has started to think about how their arts and cultural provision is representative of the diversity of wider society with the use of the No Outsiders programme, which includes books and arts activities which specifically celebrate diversity."

Headteacher Carl Wake said: "We’re extremely proud. We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education and we look forward to continuing to grow with Artsmark."
