Charles Bull, Calbourne:
I read with interest and dismay about the protest by the Isle of Wight Ramblers' Association over access through Osborne House (CP 10-05-24).
A demand to use someone else’s property with no personal responsibility for the impact it will have is morally wrong.
The area, like others, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, so should be afforded care or at least a comprehensive environmental impact study.
For comparison look at the footpath and cycle way from Cowes to Newport.
It is a disgraceful avenue of litter, dog waste and in the summer disposable barbecues.
Perhaps the Ramblers should organise clean ups of what they already have, before demanding to walk through new and precious habitats.
