Southern Water has said it is working on getting a 'sewage incident' in Cowes on the Isle of Wight 'under control'.
As previously reported by the County Press, what is thought to be raw sewage has been spewing out of a drain cover on Terminus Road and Park Road.
Islanders said schoolchildren were having to walk through sewage water this morning.
They also reported difficulties in getting through to Southern Water, to report the issue.

A drain cover lifted at the crossroads, near the car park.
In a statement to the County Press, the utility firm said engineers are "currently doing all that they can to find the cause".
A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “Our teams were on site at Terminus Road and Park Road in Cowes this morning.
"They are working on getting the sewage incident under control.
"This area of Cowes has a complicated sewer system and our engineers are currently doing all that we can to find the cause, as quickly as possible.”
