Isle of Wight marine business Spinlock has been presented with the King's Award for Enterprise Innovation by His Royal Highness, Prince Edward.

The Duke of Edinburgh attended the firm's production facility on Three Gates Road, Cowes this afternoon (Wednesday, May 1).

While there HRH met staff and walked around the building, looking at products made by the company.

He was accompanied by Spinlock CEO Chris Hill and operations director, Caroline Senior.

Spinlock was awarded the honour last year, officially received it today. It was presented in recognition of its lifesaving device, ALTO.

Designed by Spinlock's in-house team, ALTO is a waist worn product designed for paddle sports and fishing markets.

When activated, it inflates a bright yellow horseshoe ring attached to the waistband, allowing it to either fit under the arms or against the chest.

Also at the presentation were deputy lieutenants for the Island, Claire Locke and Geoff Underwood.

His Royal Highness Prince Edward is on the Island for a number of engagements.

The Duke of Edinburgh is also visiting for the reopening of Newport Minster, which has undergone major refurbishment.

He also visited the bottling plant at Wight Crystal, Daish Way, Newport and met Royal Yacht Squadron Foundation apprentices at Clare Lallows Boat Yard, on Medina Road.
